The Story
A documentary crew filming an elderly woman’s decline from Alzheimer’s slowly realizes they’re capturing something far more disturbing than the disease alone.
Verdict
One of my all-time favourite found footage movies. I recommend it to people who think they’ve seen every possession premise there is, because I genuinely think the Alzheimer’s angle gives it something different to work with. I found the first half quietly unsettling in a way a lot of found footage doesn’t manage, using the ambiguity between illness and something supernatural really well. It builds into a full-on conventional horror finale by the end, and the last 30 minutes are a hell of a ride — genuinely absorbing, no escape, heartbeat going the whole time. Genius.
