The Story

Five years after fifteen people died on opening night of a Halloween haunted-house attraction, a documentary crew returns to the scene to piece together what the official investigation never fully explained.

Verdict

The investigation and buildup are genuinely well done, and there are individual images from the final act that have stuck with me. But I have to be honest, I wasn’t as completely overwhelmed by it as most people seem to be. It’s a good film, maybe even a very good one, I just don’t think it fully lives up to the “best haunted house film ever made” praise it tends to get. Worth watching, worth the reputation to a point, just not quite the revelation for me that it was for a lot of people.
