The Story
A documentary crew embeds with Ben, a charming, remorseless serial killer, following him through his daily routine and his casual commentary on his own work. What starts as detached observation slowly pulls the crew into becoming active participants themselves.
Verdict
Shot in stark black and white, which somehow makes everything uglier, not softer. This isn’t comfortable viewing, and it was never meant to be — Ben’s charisma is the whole trap, drawing both the crew and the audience into complicity before anyone notices it’s happened. One of the sharpest, most unflinching character studies the genre has ever produced, mockumentary or otherwise.
