The Story
A family power outage sends a teenage son out to investigate, camera in hand. What he captures follows him and his brothers straight back home, and things get considerably worse once it arrives.
Verdict
f you want to hand someone a single film to explain why alien-abduction found footage works, and why the format exists in the first place, this is the one. Close to perfect, honestly. Made on essentially no budget, grainy and unpolished in a way that reads as genuine rather than styled, and the family at the center never once feels like actors reciting lines. No score pushing you toward how to feel, no clever framing calling attention to itself, just a camcorder left running while something genuinely frightening happens to ordinary people.
