The Story
Three friends, about to be split up by a neighborhood demolition project, start receiving strange coded messages on their phones. Following the signal leads them to a stranded, homesick alien who needs their help getting home.
Verdict
The odd one out on this list — found footage as a family adventure rather than horror, and a genuinely refreshing change of pace. It’s a sweet, E.T.-flavored story about friendship and growing up, and I think the format actually adds a nice layer of intimacy to it, like you’re right there with the kids on their adventure. A fun, different pick if you want something lighter without leaving the genre behind entirely.
