The Story
Two American backpackers arrive in Jerusalem for what’s supposed to be a straightforward holiday. Instead, they end up filming a Biblical-scale nightmare tearing the city apart, all captured through a pair of smart glasses neither of them can afford to take off.
Verdict
Cloverfield’s chaos filtered through Biblical apocalypse, filmed through a genuinely novel gimmick for its time. The execution is a mixed bag and the pacing drags in the first act, but there’s more good here than bad, especially once the scale of what’s actually happening becomes clear.
