The Story
A group of film students shooting their own low-budget horror movie in the woods find their fiction overtaken by reality once the actual dead start getting up and walking. They keep the cameras rolling anyway.
Verdict
Worth saying plainly: Romero’s found-footage detour doesn’t fully land. The social commentary he’s known for is present, but the tone lurches from grim survival horror to broad comic relief and back within the same scene. It’s also too polished and composed to convincingly pass as amateur footage. The kills still deliver, and it’s worth seeing for genre-history reasons alone, but calling it one of his better efforts would be generous.
