The Story
A small crew travels to Ukraine to film a documentary about the cannibalism that spread during the famine of 1932. Chasing an interview with one of the last survivors, they get led deep into the forest, where the past turns out to still be very much alive.
Verdict
A decent idea that leans on real, genuinely dark history for its setup. The film struggles once it moves from historical horror into a more generic supernatural chase, and the back half loses some of what made the opening interesting. Worth a watch mainly for the subject matter.
