The Story
A professor travels into the Amazon rainforest to find a missing documentary crew. He returns with their recovered footage instead, showing what actually happened to them and the tribe they went to film.
Verdict
This is the film that essentially invented found footage as we know it, decades before Blair Witch. It’s also one of the most controversial films ever made, and not just for its fictional violence: the production really did kill several animals on camera, which is still debated and criticized today. Its place in genre history is undeniable. Whether you want to actually sit through it is a very personal call, and this is not a film to go into casually.
